EPIRBs and SARTs

Safety is of great importance for people who are at sea regularly. Even the most experienced mariners will be dependant on safety equipment if a distress situation should arise in open sea. We can recommend from a range of safety equipment, including Emergency Positioning Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) and Radar Transponders (SARTs). There might not be a second chance!

Jotron Tron 45S / Tron 45SX Manual 121.5/406 Mhz Emergency Positioning Radio Beacon (EPIRB).

When you activate the Tron 45S, it starts transmitting vehicle identity and positioning signals to the COSPAS/SARSAT satellites, a world wide search and rescue system which has been saving lives since 1982. The satellite forwards the signal to a Ground Receiving Station (LUT) where also the position will be calculated and transferred to a Mission Control Centre (MCC). The necessary commands will be sent to the right Rescue Control Centre (RCC) which will co-ordinate the rescue operation. The Search and Rescue Forces (SAR) brings the distress to safety and deactivates the Tron 45S.

  • Designed for small vessels.

Jotron Tron 40S GMDSS float free satellite Emergency Positioning Beacon (EPIRB).

The Tron 40S will be activated and immediately start to transmit vessel identity and positioning signals to the COSPAS / SARSAT satellites if:

  • The vessel sinks. The the EPIRB will be automatically released from its bracket when subjected to water pressure at 2-4 metre depth and then float up to the surface where it will start to transmit.
  • A controlled distress situation allows so, the Tron 40S can be taken out of the bracket and manually activated by breaking the seal and pulling out the safety pin.
